What To Do With A Giant Cooking Pumpkin

Ever wondered how to cook a pumpkin? Fall is the season for pumpkin everything. Pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin bagels, pumpkin candles, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin pies- need I go on? Realistically, we all know it’s never ending. But here’s the thing- for being so pumpkin-obsessed, very few people actually deal with whole pumpkins.

Learn how to roast up a giant pumpkin and create delicious, flavorful and budget-friendly pumpkin puree!

They can vary in size of course- from small-sized edible pumpkins to massive whoppers like this 25lb fairytale pumpkin (for more information on identifying different types of pumpkins & what do with them- check out my post here).

So understandably, such an endeavor can be intimidating. After all, how often does one cook more than 10lbs of anything let alone, cook a pumpkin?

Japan Part I: Tokyo & Gifu

Japan Part I- This is a draft I started while I was away but didn’t finish or post during that time, as I got caught up in enjoying my time there. To read Part II, go here.

It’s hard to believe we’ve only been in Japan for a little over a week, as it seems like we’ve been here much longer. The days have been packed and we’ve traveled around in Tokyo, Gifu and now are headed to Kyoto. I’ve caught up with old friends, many of which I haven’t seen or talked to in almost 10 years and in that time, while many things have changed, most of the people haven’t. In most cases, other than being older, my Japanese a little rustier and myself being only slightly more mature, not a lot has changed.

On the Road Again- Japan!

I’m on the road again! Or, more specifically, on a plane again and this time, I’m headed to Japan.
Mr. C and I will be making the rounds in Tokyo, Gifu (where I used to live), Osaka and Kyoto and it’s certain to be a busy few weeks! Admittedly, I’m a little nervous, as I haven’t traveled this far internationally in quite some time but after my trip to L.A. I think I got the hang of what all I need to pack.

What you need when traveling light!

DIY Relaxing Lavender Spray

So I’ve still been busy obsessing over sleep so this post is a continuation of my two previous posts, Importance of Sleep and 4 Tips to Sleep Well.

Did you know that aromatics can play a large role in helping to relax your mind before bed? Research has found that the scent of lavender can have a calming and sedative effect on a person.

Brain Boosting Smoothie

If you are looking simply for the smoothie recipe for omega 3 brain health, skip to the bottom but if you want to learn more about the benefits and various sources of omega-3’s, keep reading below!

As I work on my applications for graduate school and begin organizing the details of each and every thing that I need to have ready to apply, I’ve realized this is the first semester in years that I haven’t had any classes. While I love all the opportunities I’m having with my current freedom, I look forward to next year and really being able to delve into my study of the human body and nutrition. This might be why I’ve started taking so many “self study” courses lately.

This brain boosting smoothie will power up your day - A Little Rosemary and Time
